Spiritual formation guidelines
This section on virtues has been written to better understand the message of Divine Mercy, and the attitudes and dispositions we should have in living out the message. Ten evangelical virtues of The Blessed Virgin Mary were the basis for the Rule on which the Congregation of Marians of The Immaculate Conception was first approved in the Church in 1699. Although the Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy are a lay outreach ministry of this congregation as renewed in the Church in 1910, the "old Rule" does not cease to be for them, as for the Congregation of Marians, an inspiration for true growth and Christian perfection.
This is the list of Mary’s principal virtues based on the evidence of passages referring to the Mother of God in the Gospels:
1. Most Pure 6. Most Obedient
2. Most Prudent 7. Most Poor
3. Most Humble 8. Most Patient
4. Most Faithful 9. Most Merciful
5. Most Devout 10. Most Sorrowful
Our Lord wants us to live a life characterized by all of these virtues, as did Saint Faustina. By manifesting these virtues, we open ourselves more fully to receive, and then radiate, His great mercy. The rays of mercy will radiate out to us, through us, and out to a hurting world.
